High Point Sports – Coaches Code of Conduct

As a coach in the High Point Sports Girls Flag Football League, I understand that I am a leader, mentor, and role model. I agree to uphold the following principles at all times, both on and off the field:

1) Athlete First

• I will place the physical, emotional, and developmental well-being of my players above my personal desire to win. The sport is for the athletes, not the adults.

• I will create a positive, safe, and supportive environment where every player can learn, grow, and feel valued.

2) Lead by Example

• I will demonstrate positive sportsmanship and respectful behavior toward players, opponents, officials, staff, parents, and spectators.

• I will refrain from using inappropriate language, gestures, intimidation, or derogatory comments at all times.

3) Respect the Game

• I will know, teach, and follow the rules of flag football and encourage my players to do the same.

• I will respect the authority and decisions of officials and communicate respectfully, even in disagreement.

4) Development Over Outcome

• I will focus on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship, not just winning.

• I will help athletes set realistic goals and celebrate effort, growth, and attitude.

5) Respect and Inclusion

• I will treat every athlete fairly and with dignity, irrespective of background, ability, identity, or experience.

• I will encourage inclusive behavior among my team, promoting a culture of respect and belonging.

6) Communication

• I will maintain clear and constructive communication with athletes, parents, league staff, and other coaches.

• I will address concerns calmly and professionally, outside of game situations.

7) Safety and Well-Being

• I will prioritize safe practice and competition environments and reinforce proper safety protocols.

• I will not tolerate bullying, harassment, abuse, or physical confrontations of any kind with players, staff, officials, or spectators.

8) Sportsmanship and Positive Culture

• I will expect and reinforce good sportsmanship, humility in success, and grace in defeat.

• I will model respect for competitors, teach conflict resolution, and promote fun and the love of the game.

9) Commitment to Mission

• I will uphold the mission and values of High Point Sports by helping every athlete grow in character, leadership, respect, teamwork, and confidence.
