Youth Co-Ed Flag Football Development (6U - 10U)
At High Point Sports, success is defined by development, confidence, and progression; not just wins and losses. Each age group has clear, realistic goals so parents and athletes know exactly what to expect each season. Our goal is to reinforce learning from prior age groups.
6U–8U: Fun, Fundamentals & Confidence
Athletes Learn:
- Proper stance and basic athletic posture
- How to throw and catch correctly (grip, spiral, hand positioning)
- Ball security fundamentals
- How to take a handoff
- Flag pulling technique (balance, body control)
- Basic offensive and defensive alignment
- Understanding offense vs. defense
- How downs and scoring work
- Listening skills and following simple instructions
Character Focus:
Confidence, coachability, effort, sportsmanship.
At this level, the goal is simple: build love for the game while creating a foundation of athletic movement and football basics.
10U: Fun, Fundamentals & Confidence
Athletes Learn:
- Route running fundamentals (cuts, spacing, timing)
- Quarterback footwork and basic reads
- Defensive positioning (contain, zone awareness)
- Proper flag angles and pursuit
- Offensive spacing concepts
- Snap exchanges and timing
- Basic defensive coverages
- Situational understanding (3rd down, red zone)
Character Focus:
Teamwork, communication, accountability.
Athletes begin understanding why plays work; not just how to run them.
Girls Flag Football Development (Middle & High School)
Middle School Girls Flag: Skill Refinement & Positional Understanding
Athletes Learn:
- Position-specific development (QB, WR, rusher, safety)
- Route trees and timing
- Defensive reads and rotations
- Reading offensive formations
- Situational football (goal line, 4th down)
- On-field communication and adjustments
- Conditioning for higher pace play
Character Focus:
Responsibility, composure, competitive mindset.
Athletes begin mastering roles while building advanced football IQ.
High School Girls Flag: Competitive Execution & Next-Level Preparation
Athletes Learn:
- Advanced route combinations
- Defensive disguises and rotations
- Film-style learning and play recognition
- Reading coverage leverage
- Audibles and adjustments
- Game tempo control
- High-level conditioning
- Leadership under pressure
Character Focus:
Accountability, resilience, servant leadership.
This level prepares athletes for varsity competition and potential collegiate opportunities while reinforcing High Point Sports’ character-first culture.
